Postdoctoral positions are available in the NIH-funded lab of Dr. Usachev in the Department of Pharmacology, University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine to work on one of the following projects: 1) The role of immune system in nociceptor sensitization and chronic pain pathogenesis; 2) The role of mitochondrial Ca2+ signaling and mitochondria fission and fusion in the control of synaptic plasticity and neurotoxicity. Multiple state-of-the art techniques are established in the lab, including confocal microscopy, cellular and subcellular Ca2+ imaging in cultured neurons and brain slices, patch-clamp recordings, molecular and genetic approaches and rodent behavioral testing.
Requirements: Highly motivated scientist with a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree, with experience in patch-clamp recording, fluorescent microscopy, neuronal cell culture and molecular biological techniques. Salary range is $38,500 - $45,000 and commensurate with experience and NIH guidelines.
